RAAVA app CHARACTER: Full name: Raava Balan Fandom: Korra Alias/Nickname: Raava Character Journal: Not yet! Age/Date of Birth: November 1 1984 Blood: Pureblood Year:N/A House: Did not go to Hogwarts, would probably be Gryff though Sexuality: Bisexual Occupation: Counselor Played By: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Appearance: With a heart shaped face, pronounced cheekbones and a smile that always manages to look like she has a secret you'd love to know, Raava is just this side of statuesque, her face a little past the point of elegance though. Long waves of brown hair that she can never quite get straight, tan skin with a sharp nose. Slate blue eyes are highlighted with brown hair and lips brought out with dark red, eye catching but professional red lipstick normally. Clothes wise she prefers greens and reds, varies between utilitarian pants and blouses while sometimes going with more traditional Indian clothing, elegant and sweeping. Though this obviously takes a little more time. Personality: Stubborn and headstrong, once Raava sets heart and mind to something she keeps on it until it's accomplished, whether it is a specific person or something like school. Straight forward and honest, Raava is not out to deceive anyone, what you see is what you get with her. Her policy has always been that you can't get through to someone and get them to be honest with you if you aren't honest with them.
Has always been good at relating to people and making them feel comfortable even if they are from a different social class or region of the world than her, she takes pride in that she can always find something in everyone to 'root for' and connect with them on some level. Sometimes though she does not accept change well, it is hard to change her mindset on something she is stuck on.
She has very good at hand to hand combat, having started training under a protective father who saw bad things happen to little girls like his, and continued on when she starting taking jobs in dangerous regions. Loves to dance, but doesn't perform, and sings to herself idly when she is working or trying to figure out something. She still loves Astronomy, cannot cook worth a damn and while she has not been in a serious relationship in some time she does not just fall in love; she plummets into it heart first when it happens. Can be hard to earn her respect and loyalty, but once you have it, you have it forever and she can be fiercely protective of those she holds dear.
One thing they’re good at Relating to people of different age groups and backgrounds
One thing they can do well. Hand to hand combat.
Their dream/goal/hope in life. To change lives Weaknesses/Flaws:
One thing that they’re terrible at. Taking no for an answer, Raava is stubborn to the max
One thing they’re not very good at. Cooking
Their worst fear in life Disapointing her parents or failing someone she is trying to help. History: Raava's fate of going into a career helping people was written in the stars. With her mother being a traditional healer from India and her father an investigator for the ministry, Raava could not have gone into a profession where she wasn't devoted to helping people.
Her parents were dedicated to their jobs and she spent most of her childhood with her grandmother who was an astronomer but never never doubted that her parents loved her, they always stressed how important it is was to help those who were forgotten or who had never anyone else. So Raava understood why they had to be gone so often and was always proud of them. While she learned hard work from her parents, her grandmother taught her never to be too grounded or put too much faith in what was in books, they would sit for hours going over the different consteallations together and their myths.
Raava attended her early years of schooling in India, and even when she graduated to go to higher education in London she never forgot her love of her homeland. She threw herself headlong into school, attending both muggle and wizarding medical schools for counsling; healing of the mind rather than the body.
She was drawn to areas where most so soon of school and from a relatively privelaged background would not have gone. Neighborhoods where there had been school shootings, where there had been drugs, gang wars. Working in both Grief Counsiling and Career Guidance, she didn't discriminate based on magical blood, or color of the skin, she was there to help you, whether you wanted it or not. She even gained a bit of a reputation for standing her ground and being able to defend herself both verbally and physically when attacked by adults or students, and she travelled all around the world, hardly taking a break after graduation. Once Raava set her mind to something or someone, she stayed with them, pouring all of her self and energy into helping them, not in the habit of seeing anyone as 'beyond' reach.
When Hogwarts was attacked and a student lost, it was she who was called. Before going she studied the school, it's history, the students, and the current staff, intending to show as much dedication to this as she had to every other situation, and not to leave until she wasn't needed anymore, even if she was at risk in the case of another attack.
Class Schedule: I am planning on her having a fairly flexible schedule, except maintained office hours, probably in the morning towards early afternoon so students can come by during gaps in their schedule. In the afternoons/evenings she might actually hang out in the common rooms to get to know students on a more personal level.
Couple of Random Facts: - Can crochet, knit and sew - takes great pride in her makeup - Loves poetry, from all nations - Does not curse often, but can be very creative due to some of the people she's associated with over the years. - Loves ice cream. Like, hard core.
First Person Journal Entry: [Private] Daily log, I played Uno in the Hufflepuff common room this morning, I think they are coming around to me. They have been the most welcoming to me since I have arrived, and I wonder if that common trait of this group is why one of them could have been targeted in the attack. They are doing an admirable job of moving on though, to honor their classmate's memory, and I greatly respect them for that healthy perspective.
Third Person Role Playing Entry: At least two paragraphs. Third person past tense. The tea tray rattled quietly as she set it down in front of the quaking girl who tried to steady her hands as she held it up to her face and inhaled. Raava had many teas for these situations, this particular girl had been brought to her after throwing up in the bathroom. She had been bullied by the other students and was so wound up she made herself sick. For her, the counselor had choosen a strong ginger tea. Not the most relaxing, but it would calm the girl's stomach and clear her head.
She waited, as she always did, for the girl to start talking on her own. She was a third year Ravenclaw, and was normally a lively, bright and composed girl Raava knew from her previous interactions with her, "They said I would be next, that I was a mudblood and stole my magic, that I don't deserver to be here." It targeted a common fear of muggle borns; that this specialness they had discovered about themselves wasn't really theirs, or worse it would be taken away.
